Fall 2022 Trends- From the Perspective of a Fashion Student Grad

  |

Fall is Officially Here!! My name is Clare and I'm a new employee of Leopard Boutique and a recent graduate from the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. Trend forecasting was a huge part of what I learned at FIT so I wanted to discuss my take on what fall fashion will look like this season and showcase the latest styles that you'll find in our store. So grab your pumpkin spice lattes and enjoy reading!
Move over basic black, browns are moving in.
Aside from the leaves changing colors, fashion will take a turn to more neutral browns this fall. Nature-inspired darks offer a great alternative to black and help to brighten up an outfit. My favorite way to include this color would be to create a monochromatic look utilizing different shades of brown head-to-toe!
cutouts in dresses and tops are all over the runway
The next trend to keep an eye out for is cut-out details, which will most commonly be seen in dresses! Step out of your comfort zone by adding this style to your next outfit choice. This detail helps break up the silhouette and actually appears more flattering on the body, either at the waist or near the shoulder area-depending on the cut-out. So don't be afraid to flaunt what you've got with this new style!
Instead of feeling constricted by skinny jeans this fall, the relaxed and flare denim looks are starting to flourish in the womenswear market. First off, we have the comeback of the 70s/western flare jean- which happens to be my favorite! This shape does a great job of accentuating the figure by creating a long slim silhouette. There is a wide array of flare styles that range from a bold wide-leg to a more subtle baby flare.
The next denim style that you'll see a lot of is the relaxed-cropped jean. This is a classic shape that is very flattering and comfortable! How I would style a pair of relaxed jeans is pairing it with a cute blouse or tee and rolling the cuffs on the jeans to add some fun youthfulness!
pinks for fall and winter
And now for the color of the season- hot Pink! This color was seen all over the runways this year and can range from a bold "Barbiecore" magenta to a fluorescent fuchsia. Although the color is great on its own, the hot pink is also being added subtly to fall prints to add contrast. Be sure to look on our new arrivals list for bright pink tanks, blouses, and dresses this fall!
blazers never go out of style
This has to be my favorite new trend as I'm a sucker for a good blazer look! Anytime I throw on a blazer over jeans and a tee, I instantly feel like a #girlboss. You will find various blazer styles from a fitted look to more oversized depending on the occasion. The classic blazer screams professional, sophisticated, and high-fashion.
70s vibes
Retro vibes are all over the runway this year! From flare jeans to funky prints, you can't go wrong with adding a little grooviness to your closet this Fall.
sequins
Sequins are always fun for a party or holiday, but this year we are seeing them make a comeback in everyday life. So go for it girl, spark and shine on a daily because life is a party!
Last but not least we have the resurgence of vegan leather- an eco-friendly approach to a classic staple. From moto jackets to a cute little black dress- the possibilities are endless when it comes to finding vegan leather fashion. Its super sleek, edgy, and sustainable. Take for instance the dress above on the right that Rachel is wearing-a strapless black dress with faux feathers which is perfect for your next holiday party!
